Juicing Fast For Fibromyalgia

Juicing Fast For FibromyalgiaToday I watched a very inspiring and eye opening Documentary on Juicing by Joe Cross. It’s called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Joe is from Australia, was 100 pounds overweight and was on high dose Prednisone due to the autoimmune disease chronic urticaria.

Joe’s Chronic Illness caused him constant pain, rashes and a hard time sleeping. He was tired of how he felt and sick of having to take medications everyday just to survive. Does that sound familiar to any of you all? He decided to go on a juicing fast for 60 days for his health and to loose some weight. For 60 days, he drank fruit and vegetable juices, and nothing else.

I don’t want to give away the whole documentary but I can’t resist sharing some of the results. He lost 100 pounds, lowered his blood pressure, became pain free and medicine free! I can’t guarantee you that you will be pain free or medicine free, but it sure did inspire me and my wife to give it a try. I bought a juicer online right after the watching the film and I am super excited to start my on juice fast reboot!

I know Fibromyalgia can be such a painful condition and many are desperate to find alternative ways to treat it. There are several studies that show juicing and a good diet can help reduce the pain significantly.

Right below this paragraph I will put the trailer to the film for you to see. I highly recommend you give it a look! You can watch it for free on hulu or if you have a netflix subscription you can watch it there, which is where I watched it.

Then below the video that I am going to share a some more about juicing, a juicing recipe and some real stories I found searching online from fibromyalgia sufferers that started doing the juicing fast and incorporating juicing into their lives.

What is a Juicing Fast?

A juicing fast or reboot as Joe calls it is simply drinking and eating only fruits and vegetables, herbal teas and water for a period of time. A Juicing Fast helps to clean out your system, regain or sustain your vitality, lose some pounds and recharge your body for optimal wellness.

Is it safe for me?

First off I am not a Doctor and always recommend consulting your physician before starting any new diet or exercise program. Generally a juice fast is safe for most, but if you are pregant, nursing, under 18 or have severe medical conditions it is probably wise to make sure you have a Doctor monitor you while you do your fast. Joe did 60 days which is pretty intense, I am planning on starting with a 7 or 10 day fast to see how I do. Keep in mind that even if you do not do a juice fast getting all those great nutrients is going to be so beneficial to you even if you just juice 1 or 2 of your meals and have regular clean meals after that.

NOTE: JUICE FASTING FOR PERIODS OF TIME MAY NEED TO BE DONE UNDER SUPERVISION AND IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR EVERYONE.

What Others Are Saying about Juicing

katiejay Says:

I started April 9, 2013  juicing and eating clean – and I am completely pain free for the first time in 14 years. I suffered from fibromyalgia and diabetic neuropathy (nerve pain) – but no more. One of the wonderful benefits of juicing is that people who have had a sleep disorder or couldn’t sleep due to chronic pain, suddenly find themselves waking up after a good night’s sleep. Once your pain has decreased, you body will have a chance to genuinely begin healing thanks to the rest your body will be getting at the cellular level.

Natshell62 Says:

I’ve had fibromyalgia for about 20 years. I also had chronic pain from a number of other conditions. Hadn’t slept well in decades. Not exaggerating at all when I say the pain was gone and I was sleeping like a baby after a couple of weeks on juice fasting. Still am except when I do silly things like fall on my bad knee or strain my bad shoulder by getting too enthusiastic at the aerobics. Hard to believe I could, quite literally, barely walk a few months ago:) Stick it out girls. Resist that coffee. Chug that juice. It couldn’t be MORE worth it!

Rosepetals Says:

Back in college I was in terrible pain from Fibro. I was not juice fasting, but I did juice regularly for several years. The juicing over time took away the pain. I also drank 2 2oz. wheat grass shots a day in addition to juicing. It took it away. It was not a quick fix, be patient.

KayC04201231 Says:

I did a 30 day juice fast not because I thought it would cure my fibro, but because I grew up eating processed junk and I have never been in a state of great health. As in shape and normal weight etc… So I thought what the heck, nothing else has worked and it cannot hurt. I read that could have something to do with me getting fibro so fixing it has to help… It has not completely cured me, it has made my symptoms less severe and I do def have more energy… I have a long ways to go (I have lost 40lbs in a few months) so I do have hope to be “cured” or have symptoms be so subtle I do not notice them lol but its going to be a long road to get there.

mangosalsajuicepic_24544bd9557271cfc02ce4a29eaaa6f2-225x300Fibromyalgia Recipe – Mango Salsa Juice

Ingredients

  • 1 mango
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/4 yellow pepper (Australian capsicum)
  • 1/2 Jalapeno pepper
  • 2 green onions or scallions (Australian shallots)
  • 1/4 cup cilantro (Australian coriander)
  • 1/2 lime

Directions

  1. Wash produce well
  2. Remove mango skins (you can choose to leave these on- if so buy organic and scrub well). Cut mango flesh away from the flat, wooden pit, called the endocarp, to fit into juicer chute.
  3. To make the juice less spicy remove ribs and seeds from Jalapeno pepper

The jalapeno peppers have potent phytonutrients including capsaicin. Capsaicin offers anti inflammatory and pain relieving actions that can alleviate swelling and pain from conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia or exercise induced muscle aches. Capsaicin is even being studied as a potential agent to combat chemotherapy side effects.

Some Juicing Tips for Fibro Sufferers

Try to use mostly organic vegetables/greens when juicing. Fruit is not always the best option for everyone, especially those with hypoglycemia or any blood sugar issues. An exception to the rule is green apple which mixes well with vegetables and is low glycemic.

You don’t have to do the fast to juice, you don’t even have to juice everyday. Just trying to incorporate juicing into your weekly routine I believe will make a large impact to your health!
